This is how I see my spirit guide/animal. Used as a dream guide as well

The key is patience. It takes forever to do the hairs. Also used a lot of tools like duplicating layers, playing with contrast, curves and hues. I could probably improve on this, but it was driving me nuts, so I'm declaring it finished for now. I've never done anything like this, so I'm pretty happy with the results.
